'Communication barriers'

This is a painting about the desire to be more deeply known by another person: a desire that is often frustrated, as we struggle to express ourselves or to find a willing listener.  

The painting depicts a fence with padlocks (symbol of love and ideal companionship). But these love locks cast a shadow: a structure of lines - dividing lines between individuals. The painting is peopled by solitary souls and people sitting together apart.
